Today, one of 2023’s most exciting new music talents ratbag announces her debut EP, why aren’t you laughing?, set for release next Friday 8 December.
why aren’t you laughing? serves as the first full look into the ever-expanding world of ratbag and her monstrous band that fuses music, art and theatrics into a truly singular concoction. Alongside recent punk-inspired single ‘dead end kids’, the EP will also include the brand new track ‘rot in love’ as well as the previously released
‘exit girl’ and her debut single

ratbag shares: “why aren’t you laughing? is your invitation into my world. i’ve opened the door just a crack, enough for you to see the beginning of what’s going on. these 4 songs had been brewing in a big ol’ bowl of soup in my head and are now ready to be eaten, by you. it feels quite scary to hand over my songs, like i’m handing pieces of me to the world, but i think it’s equally as exciting. i hope you’re hungry.”

We don’t know much about ratbag, but we do know that she isn’t from here. She arrived with her band – Deemo, Slug, Fritz and Eugene – and they’re all crashing at her place while they practice and get ready for the stage. We haven’t been able to get much more information out of ratbag, but get to know her and she will drag you out of this world and deep into hers.
Since her debut in July, ratbag has seen global support from Zane Lowe, 6Music, Radio 1, triple J, Radio X, i-D, NME, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Clash, Notion, Dork and more.
