PUBLIC is a pop/rock trio from Cincinnati, Ohio that has spent the past few years cutting their teeth touring the country as well as self-producing their infectious and unique brand of pop. John Vaughn (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Matthew Carter Alvarado (Bass/Synth/Vocals) and Ben Lapps (Percussion) originally met in their high school jazz orchestra, where they began organizing basement jam sessions while bonding over similar tastes in music ranging from classic rock and punk to disco and funk.
After gaining notable standing in their hometown, the band embarked on their first US tour with fellow Ohio natives Walk the Moon, who were out supporting their new smash single “Shut Up And Dance”. PUBLIC has since gone on to support notable acts such as Twenty One Pilots, Jesse McCartney, Young The Giant, AJR and, most recently, a national run with Ross and Rocky Lynch of R5’s new alt./pop group, The Driver Era. The musical talents and charisma of PUBLIC truly come alive in their liv show, turning their slick collection of pop songs into an arena-ready rock and roll show. Complete with intense guitar solos, daring acrobatics, and a truly electric connection with the crowd – the group continues to create and ever-growing fanbase wherever they go. By putting everything that they can into both the records they cut and the show they play, PUBLIC continually and consistently pushes the boundaries of their sound and what is expected of an up-and-coming artist.
After just recently being signed to management company Jonas Group Entertainment by Kevin Jonas Sr., PUBLIC has just begun promoting their single “Make You Mine” (newly mixed by Grammy Award Winners Chris Lord-Alge and mastered by Emily Lazar). The track is currently tracking over 100K spins a day on Spotify and has found an early believer in Hall of Fame programmer Kid Kelly, who has just begun putting the song into rotation on SiriusXM.
