July Talk | Video | Push + Pull

Mit “Push + Pull” veröffentlicht das kanadische Quintett July Talk den ersten Vorboten ihres zweiten Albums. Es heißt “Touch” und dreht sich – entgegen seines Liebes-getränkten Vorgängers “July Talk” – um gesamtgesellschaftliche Themen. Menschliche Beziehungen spielen da also noch immer eine große Rolle, werden aber eher im globalen Kontext betrachtet. Da ergibt es Sinn, dass auch das Video zur Single “Push + Pull” außergewöhnlich daher kommt:

Im July-Talk-typischen Schwarz-Weiß-Clip wird der ausschweifende Überfluss der westlichen Welt durch Dokumentarfilm-ähnliche Szenen dargestellt: Es geht um verschiedene Menschen, die sich während einer Nacht auf unterschiedliche Art dem Exzess hingeben. Frontfrau Leah Fay verleiht dem Track durch ihre sanfte Stimme nicht nur den perfeken Gegenpart zu Frontmann Peter Dreimanis rauhen Tönen, sondern choreografierte den Clip auch. Für die Visualisierung zeichnet sich die kanadische Regisseurin Nadia Tan verantwortlich. Ihr Portfolio reicht von klassischen Dramen über Dokumentarfilme bis hin zu Werbe- und Musik-Clips.
